Tottenham Hotspur sold Kion Etete a little earlier in August.
The enormous striker, who reportedly stands at 6’6 [The Daily Mail], left Spurs to join Cardiff City on a permanent basis for around £500,000.
Etete established himself as an exciting academy prospect at Tottenham and this stint in the Championship is a brilliant opportunity to demonstrate his ability in men’s football.
However, it’s been a difficult start to life in the second tier for the big man but he could – and should – have opened his account on Saturday.
Cardiff beat Birmingham City 1-0 yesterday and the former Spurs hitman could’ve wrapped up the points late on.
But with the entire goal to aim at, Etete nodded a header wide of the post, before falling to the ground in disbelief.
Here’s what Don Goodman said to Sky Sports during commentary: “What an opportunity. That’s the one he was waiting for. It wasn’t even really close in the end, gets it all wrong. Well wide.”

One major positive is the fact that he was intelligent enough as a number nine to pull away from his marker to get the opportunity in the first place.
Gary Lineker often says that missing a gilt-edged opportunity is less worrisome than not getting any goalscoring chances at all.
And no doubt the former Tottenham striker demonstrated clever movement to the point where he’ll certainly get further opportunities.
Whether he takes them or not, well that’ll be the difference.
