Noel Whelan raved about Leeds United winger Raphinha on BBC Radio Leeds (9:40pm, March 8, 2021) while watching him in action against West Ham United.
Former Leeds striker Whelan was on co-commentary duty for BBC Radio Leeds for the Premier League game between West Ham and Leeds at London Stadium in the Premier League on Monday evening.
Whelan said about Raphinha in the 80th minute (9:40pm, March 8, 2021, BBC Radio Leeds): “He always backs himself, he backs himself all the time. Look, there are three around him there, not giving him a minute’s peace.
“He does the hard graft. It’s not just his skills and flamboyancy going forward that has impressed us, it’s hard work and honesty and willing to do that horrible side of the game that has impressed us more.”
How did Raphinha play against West Ham United?
West Ham won the Premier League game 2-0, but Leeds did have a number of chances, had two goals ruled out, and were denied by the frame of the Hammers’ goal.
Raphinha has been playing well for the Whites this season, and the Brazilian did well against David Moyes’s side too.

According to WhoScored, the former Rennes star took four shots and two were on target, played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 70.6%, won one header, attempted one dribble, and made two tackles, one interception and one clearance.
So far this season, Raphinha has made 19 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Leeds so far this season, scoring five goals and providing five assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
