Jamie O’Hara has noted an issue with Tottenham Hotspur left-back Destiny Udogie that is affecting playmaker James Maddison.

Tottenham Hotspur beat Crystal Palace 3-1 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Palace took the lead after 59 minutes, but Spurs launched a late comeback to pick up all three points from the London derby.

Destiny Udogie, who has impressed Tim Sherwood this season, started the match for Tottenham at left-back, while James Maddison was deployed in the centre of a three-man attacking midfield in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Jamie O’Hara comments on Tottenham Hotspur duo Destiny Udogie and James Maddison

Former Tottenham Hotspur player and talkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara has noted that Udogie tends to come into midfield and that affects the space that Maddison can operate in.

Udogie, 21, was very good at running from the left and helped out in attack on Saturday afternoon, although the Italian youngster could have done better with his passing.

Against Palace in the London derby, England international attacking midfielder Maddison looked very bright and threatening, and he provided an assist as well.

O’Hara said about Udogie on talkSPORT (5:54pm, March 2, 2024): “Look, I know Udogie is great, don’t get me wrong, I think he is fantastic, but he runs into the midfield all the time.

“I think actually sometimes he kills the space. Stand out on the touchline and then you can be the one who receives it and plays it into Maddison, who is already on the half turn and he is already in the pocket.

“The problem is now there are so many bodies in there, Maddison is struggling to find little touches, he has to get it wide, it is harder to create from wide areas.”

My View: Tottenham Hotspur can finish in Premier League top four

In my opinion, Tottenham Hotspur have what it takes to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.

Spurs are now fifth in the league table with 50 points from 26 games. The North London club are only five points behind Aston Villa, who are fourth and have played 27 games.

Tottenham are in good form at the moment. They have won three of their last five league games.
