Leon Bailey has wished Carney Chukwuemeka ‘all the best’ on the player’s Instagram after he secured a transfer from Aston Villa to Chelsea.

The 18-year-old, whose contract at Aston Villa was due to expire next summer, has signed a six-year contract with the West London club.

It has been reported by BBC Sport that Chelsea have paid their Premier League counterparts £20 million for the highly-rated midfielder, who won the European Championships with England’s U19s this summer.

Heading into pre-season and Villa’s tour of Australia, Steven Gerrard opted to leave Chukwuemeka at home with his contract situation dragging on, so he hasn’t left the Midlands club in such a positive light.

Nonetheless, a number of his teammates have congratulated him on his IG on the Chelsea move, with Leon Bailey telling him ‘All the best, my bro’.

Matty Cash and Lucas Digne sent similar messages, whilst Marvelous Nakamba labelled him a ‘star boy’ and Kaine Kesler Hayden told him to ‘smash it’.

WILL CHUKWUEMEKA START FOR CHELSEA?

Fans might not see him from the get-go because he hasn’t had a proper pre-season, he has just walked through the doors at Stamford Bridge and the new Premier League season kicks off at the weekend.

But, during these coming months, will Chukwuemeka be donning Chelsea’s first-team colours? There are suggestions that Thomas Tuchel wants to hand him that chance.

At Villa, was the issue that he was asking for too much in wages? And Villa just didn’t want to bow down to a youngster’s demands? Well, if that’s the case, then they have done very well to get him out of the door.

But, if the player is producing the goods in Chelsea colours this season, then it will be interesting to see how it will then be viewed in the Midlands.

Ahead of Villa’s Premier League opener at Bournemouth, some fans are questioning if they need another number eight, well one has just left the building that fits the bill.
