Watford welcome Leicester City to Vicarage Road today.

Paul Merson answers questions during Gillette Soccer Saturday Live with Jeff Stelling on March 19, 2012 at the Bournemouth International Centre in Bournemouth, England.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson predicted the outcome of today’s Premier League clash between the Hornets and the Foxes, when writing his regular prediction column for Sky Sports.

Watford have been in free fall recently, losing their last four Premier League games, and Marco Silva’s side currently sit in 10th position in the table, after having made a bright start to their campaign.

Leicester, meanwhile, have strung together an impressive run of results, winning four of their last six league outings, and currently sit two places and five points ahead of today’s opponents.

Claude Puel’s men have failed to win in their last two games, however, so both sides will be desperate for all three points at Vicarage Road today.

Merson wrote his regular prediction column for Sky Sports, and explained why he believes the east Midlands outfit will emerge victorious from today’s contest:

Marco Silva, Manager of Watford looks on prior to the Premier League match between Everton and Watford at Goodison Park on November 5, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

“I watched Watford on Saturday (losing 1-0 at Brighton) and they are all over the place defensively and Brighton really should have won 3-0 or 4-0. They were a much better team and I just cannot believe what has happened to Watford. And I am going to go for Leicester to win this, Watford are all over the place and have hit a brick wall at the moment, while Riyad Mahrez looks like he has the bit between his teeth, Leicester look pacy, so I am going to go for them to win 2-1.”

Watford cannot climb any higher than their current position of 10th with a win, but they can cement their place inside the top 10.

Leicester, meanwhile, are in a similar position in the sense that they cannot improve upon their current position, but a win would see them keep pace with those above them in the race for the Europa League spots.
