What a performance by Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening.
The North Londoners recorded a stunning 3-2 victory away to Premier League champions Manchester City.
Harry Kane scored twice – including a last-minute winner – to shock Pep Guardiola’s outfit at Eastlands.
However, not every Tottenham player was brilliant at the Etihad Stadium.
One player surprisingly suspect was Hugo Lloris, who fumbled the cross which led to Ilkay Gundogan equalising for the hosts during the first half.
The France international, a World Cup winner in 2018, also had a shocker of a performance in Spurs’ defeat by Wolverhampton Wanderers last week.
And Jamie Carragher, speaking live on Sky Sports, criticised Lloris – a £12 million signing in 2012 – for his error last night, too.
He said: “The goalkeeper doesn’t deal with it at all. He was all over the place against Wolves and now he’s let Manchester City get back into this game.”
Redemption
Theres’s no denying that Lloris, as Carragher said, allowed Manchester City a route back into the contest.
However, the former Lyon goalkeeper had a much stronger second-half display and pulled off two stunning saves to keep out the Citizens.
And ultimately, that’s the mark of a great goalkeeper, when you can redeem yourself in the very same encounter.
Without those interventions, Tottenham simply don’t win this game and therefore Lilywhites supporters will have forgiven their long-serving player for last night and last weekend’s errors.
