Gary Neville has stated that he was ‘stunned’ by Chelsea’s 4-1 defeat to Brentford on Saturday, as he brought up Thomas Tuchel’s recent comments about Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, as he told Sky Sports.

Arsenal’s man in the dugout won March’s Manager of the Month award, despite his Chelsea rival winning all his games and the Gunners losing to Liverpool.

That was something Tuchel touched upon during his pre-match press conference for the game against their neighbours, only to be slapped about by the newly-promoted side at Stamford Bridge.

One thing is for sure, no nomination will be headed the German’s way this month because, for Thomas Frank and his players, that’s one of the results and performances of the season.

Following Neville’s trip to Qatar for the FIFA World Cup draw, he reacted to the Chelsea result when returning to England and Tuchel’s comments on Arteta.

“Stunned,” said Neville. “I was in Qatar the last few days at the World Cup draw.

“I came back this morning and I was catching up with everything and I saw the Thomas Tuchel interview, where he was talking about how he had won every game in March and he wasn’t the manager of the month.

“And that Mikel Arteta had lost a game, yet he was. He said ‘I am happy to continue winning every game and not being Manager of the Month’.

“Then, all of a sudden. They lose a game at home.”

Well, if Arteta is being nominated for April’s Manager of the Month, then they have probably secured Champions League football, or are on the edge of it.

The Gunners are due to play Manchester United and Chelsea this month, all in the space of a few days.

One will be a trip to the Bridge, whilst the other will be welcoming Man United to the Emirates.

Win those back-to-back games and then Arteta and his young stars can really start to dream big.
