Steven Gerrard has urged Rangers board to support him at Ibrox in the summer on Sky Sports.

Gerrard has led Rangers to great success this season, with the Light Blues finally reclaiming the Scottish Premiership title.

Rangers have dominated the rest of Scotland’s top flight and still remain unbeaten in league games this season.

However, Gerrard insists that he doesn’t want the Ibrox side to stand still.

And he has urged Rangers board to provide him with the backing to complete his aims for the club.

“I’ll reset myself and do whatever I need to do in the background to make this group as strong as we can be and as competitive as we can moving forward,” Gerrard said.

“I’m as ambitious as anyone connected to this club, I want to try and get this club Champions League football, I want to defend our title with our life and I want to try and put the cup thing right because that doesn’t sit well with me.

“I want to come back with pre-season with a fair chance of being successful, that’s all I ask for, hopefully the board will support me in that and we go again.”

It is not yet clear what sort of budget Rangers will have to spend in the summer.

But it looks likely that the Light Blues will be fighting on two fronts.

Rangers’ success this season has led to many of their key players becoming in-demand, and Gerrard will surely want to be backed to keep hold of those players.

The Light Blues boss will also want quality added, with rumours of names on Rangers’ potential wishlist already emerging.
