Darren Bent has stated that he would take Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Arsenal ‘all day long’, as he told talkSPORT.
The former striker questioned the form of the man currently leading Arsenal’s line, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and whether that will return.
For one-and-a-half seasons now, the Arsenal captain has lost the form that previously saw him fire the North London club to the FA Cup.
Aubameyang is yet to score an away goal for the Gunners this season and was subbed off in the second-half during his side’s defeat to Manchester United on Thursday.
Bent was asked about Aubameyang’s form and whether he would take someone like Calvert-Lewin for £60 million.
“I don’t know if it will come back (on Auba’s form),” said Bent. “Arsenal, at a stage of their redevelopment, where they can’t afford any passengers.
“It has been gone a long time. It seems as though you have an Ozil situation all over again, an ageing player on high wages. What do they do with him?
“I would take that all day long (on Calvert-Lewin). Absolutely all day long. I would pay it (£60 million for DCL).”
What Everton fans won’t like to hear is that Calvert-Lewin’s name has been linked with Arsenal of late, as reported by the Evening Standard.
The England striker is currently out injured, and with Everton winless in eight matches, it’s pretty obvious that they are missing his presence and goalscoring touch up top.
Harry Kane may be out-of-form, at the moment, but he is the guy to lead the line for England come the World Cup in Qatar.
If he were to get injured, then it’s probably Calvert-Lewin who would come into his place or be next in line for that all-important striker spot.
