Sergio Reguilon has revealed that his family all used to be ‘big fans’ of Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports.

When speaking about his manager, the left-back said: ‘In my house, we were all big fans of Mourinho. He is a world-class manager and he was very important in my decision to come.’

As Reguilon alludes to in the interview, he has actually worked under Mourinho before to some extent, albeit in the Real Madrid youth ranks while the ex-Chelsea boss roamed the Santiago Bernabeu dugout.

A few months ago, Mourinho parted with £25 million of his transfer budget to bring the former Los Blancos academy star to north London.

So far, Reguilon looks to be worth every penny.

The 23-year-old already has two assists in four games this season, and his attacking qualities have handed Spurs a new dimension down the left flank.

It must be surreal for the Spaniard to be playing under the iconic Portuguese coach, seeing as he was idolised in the Reguilon household.

After his fine start to life in England, we’d imagine that Mourinho will be the one idolising his new No.3.

He has completely transformed the left-back role, offering a more adventurous style in comparison to the more defensive Ben Davies.

According to WhoScored, Reguilon averages 2.5 key passes per game in the Premier League, and also takes one shot per 90 minutes, showcasing his love of getting forward.
