The Arsenal legend believes that if Bale does well at Tottenham, then it could cause a problem with Mourinho, as, according to Wright, the former Real Madrid boss wants everything to be about him all the time.
According to The Times, Bale will fly to London on Friday and will complete a loan move from Real Madrid to Tottenham.
Wright said on The Kelly & Wrighty Show: “Let’s say, everything is brilliant, and he came and done fantastically well. Would that kind of throw Jose because that’s not the kind of guy he wants around him? He wants it to be all about him all the time.
“So if Gareth Bale comes and starts doing all the great things and the focus is on Gareth Bale… The point I am trying to make is that because it might go well like that, Jose is self-destructive, just mess it all up, he has got that vibe about him.”
Bizarre comments
Mourinho is a strong personality who does not get scared to speak his own mind.
However, it is hard to see the Portuguese have any issue if Bale hits the ground running and helps his Tottenham team.
Mourinho has worked with some of the best players in the world, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and he knows the importance of having quality footballers in his squad.
Bale joining Tottenham and doing well is only going to look good for Mourinho and for the North London outfit, and one suspects that the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager would love it if the Wales international does well for his team.
