Alioski’s ability as a striker could come in handy for Leeds this season

The Leeds United player has been used out wide so far, but he does have history of impressing up front.

Since arriving at Leeds United, summer signing Ezgjan Alioski has been used predominantly on the left wing, with just two appearances on the opposite flank. And while the Macedonian has impressed more often than not, there is another position that should not be discounted in the months ahead.

During his time at Lugano, Alioski regularly featured up front, scoring six goals and providing seven assists in 11 appearances as a striker last season.

That is an impressive record, and while Leeds signed Pierre-Michel Lasogga to occupy the loan forward role, with Kemar Roofe, Caleb Ekuban, Jay-Roy Grot and Pawel Cibicki has alternatives, Whites manager Thomas Christiansen could have an exciting alternative up his sleeve when required.

Alioski’s form since the last international break has been disappointing, but he possesses the innate talent that spark of magic to get back to his best at Leeds this month and play a vital role between now and May.

But promotion chasing sides often need a plan C, D and E as the fixtures pile up and on occasions, do not be surprised to see Alioski get chances to prove his worth through the centre.

It worked before, albeit in the Swiss league, and once he gets used to the Championship, the Leeds man may fancy another go as a central striker when the situation dictates.
