Leeds United have been linked with Mbaye Diagne, but surely it won’t materialise if they win the race to sign Ali Reghba.

Whether it’s in the senior side or the academy, Leeds United aren’t short on strikers.

The Whites have the likes of Kemar Roofe, Patrick Bamford and Tyler Roberts in the senior side, while teenagers Mallik Wilks – on loan at Doncaster – and Ryan Edmondson may represent the next generation of Leeds hitmen.

But do the Elland Road club intend on signing yet another one? According to a report, yes.

The Irish edition of The Sun reported this past weekend that United, along with Championship rivals Middlesbrough, are interested in bringing Ali Reghba to West Yorkshire.

The 18-year-old Bohemians striker has only managed two appearances for the Irish outfit and would hardly go straight into Leeds’ senior side if he did swap Ireland for England.

But if he does join the Championship leaders, it seems unlikely that Mbaye Diagne will be pursued in January.

According to Turkish Football, Leeds have been scouting the Ghana international as recently as September, with the Kasimpasa marksan valued at around £9 million [TeamTalk].

Bamford will be fit by the time January comes around, and Roofe and Roberts have both impressed in a big way this season. Even without Reghba, a move for Diagne doesn’t make much sense, but going after the teenage prospect would effectively confirm that Diagne isn’t on their radar.
