Leeds United are in advanced talks to sign Baghdad Bounedjah, according to reports in the Algerian striker’s homeland.
DZFoot claims, along with the English language site DZfootball, that Bounedjah is taking his time to think about joining Marcelo Bielsa’s side, having also been linked with the Argentine’s former club Lille OSC.
However, it adds that Leeds’ wage offer is less than what he earns at his Qatari employers Al Sadd, and the 26-year-old is said to desire ‘similar conditions’.
Bounedjah has zero experience in European club football, but does have 14 caps for Algeria – from which he has scored four goals – while the Oran-born player found the net 28 times in 21 games for Al Sadd last season.
Leeds struck a partnership with Qatar’s Aspire Academy earlier this year, which should give them a useful knowledge of players in the Gulf nation.
And the Whites could be in the market for another striker this summer, despite claims by the Daily Telegraph they are edging towards an £11 million deal for Derby County’s, Matej Vydra.
