Alfredo Morelos has told Caracol Radio that he was flattered to hear Rangers manager Steven Gerrard compare him to Luis Suarez.

Morelos is ripping up the Scottish Premiership this season and leads the way for the Golden Boot with 15 goals.

But there is a fiery side to the Colombian hitman, who was sent off for Rangers in Wednesday’s 4-2 win at Aberdeen, after scoring twice.

It was his third red card of the season in all competitions and Gerrard has previously compared him to his former Liverpool team-mate Suarez [BBC Sport].

Morelos told Caracol Radio in Colombia: “Gerrard is an absolute legend and for someone like me, to get coached from him every day is incredible. There’s something new I learn each training session.

“He’s a great coach and I am very happy to work with him. I heard he compared me with Luis Suarez! That’s very exciting for me. I love playing for him and I feel I am improving.”

It’s certainly a high praise from the Gers manager, who knows a thing or two about Suarez after sharing a dressing room with him for a number of years on Merseyside.

But if Morelos can consistently make headlines for the right reasons, and curb his disciplinary issue, then it’d be far better for Rangers.

As brilliant as he is, he can be a major liability. The Dons beat them in a League Cup semi-final earlier this season because the 22-year-old was suspended, which ought to illustrate how much the light Blues suffer from his moments of madness.
