Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is reportedly ready to commit his future to the Ibrox club.

Rangers fans would have been delighted with the reports coming out of the Daily Record on Wednesday which suggested that Alfredo Morelos now has his heart set on staying at Ibrox despite attracting the attention of seven different clubs since the start of the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed an excellent start to his Gers career. He is the joint top goalscorer in the Scottish Premiership this season with 11 goals to his name, and at his age, he should only get significantly better as he gains more experience.
And that is why Rangers getting Morelos to sign a new deal would be as big a statement as any other piece of business that the Light Blues have done since the Colombian arrived at the club in the summer.
It seems highly unlikely that there are many 21-year-old strikers about who top their division’s scoring charts at this stage of the campaign having arrived from a different country in the summer, so it would have come as absolutely no surprise to the Gers that they were having to deal with interest in the Colombian in the last month or so.

Morelos has taken to life at Ibrox brilliantly, and keeping him will give Rangers a fantastic chance to achieve their goal of getting themselves back to the summit of the Scottish game in the coming years.
Of course, a new contract does not mean that the Light Blues can relax about the idea of keeping the young forward. But it should guarantee that they are able to attract big money if they do feel forced to sell at any point, and that should ensure that even after the striker leaves, they have the resources to make sure that his departure does not mean that the team have to take a backward step by any means.
