Alfredo Morelos has told Caracol – as per the Record – that he confident Rangers can still pip Celtic and bring the Scottish Premiership trophy back to Ibrox. Celtic remain three points clear at the top of the table.

Morelos, 25, has been in stunning form of late for the Gers – with stats of 18 goals and eight assists in 37 games. Under Gio van Bronckhorst, Morelos has amassed an impressive 11 goals in 16 games – and five of his eight assists.

Rangers have come unstuck in recent weeks, picking up just five points from a possible nine – allowing Celtic to go three points clear. With nine league games to play, Rangers have it all to do to topple the Hoops.

Speaking about the title race, Morelos is still confident that Rangers can climb back above Celtic and win a second successive title. The Gers take on Glasgow rivals Celtic twice within those nine remaining league matches.

“I am scoring goals and feel I am contributing to the team. It would be nice to win another title with Rangers and I think we are close to doing that, but we need to keep going until the end of the season,” Morelos said.

Morelos on title race: Can Rangers topple Celtic in close title race?

Rangers need to nab four points from the two Old Firm matches to stand any chance of winning the title. The chances of Celtic winning the other seven matches is strong, while they also boast a stronger goal difference.

If Rangers can win one, and draw one against Celtic, they would go level with the Hoops – if of course, the two sides produce the same amount of points. But if Celtic drop points elsewhere, Rangers have a chance.

Of course, if Rangers beat Celtic twice in both Old Firm clashes then they will go above Ange Postecoglou’s side. It is tricky to predict, but what will happen for sure, is an exciting end to an intriguing Premiership season.
