Alfredo Morelos is banned for Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers, and his Gers teammate Kyle Lafferty should now try to impress manager Steven Gerrard.
Kyle Lafferty of Rangers
Kyle Lafferty has struggled to make a huge impact at Rangers since his move to Ibrox from Heart of Midlothian in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Glasgow Evening Times to be worth £500,000, but the recent ban handed to teammate Alfredo Morelos means that the 31-year-old has a fantastic chance to grab the headlines.
Morelos’s three-match ban means that the Rangers striker missed last weekend’s Scottish Cup last-16 tie against Kilmarnock, and the Colombia international will also sit out the Gers’ upcoming Scottish Premiership games against St Johnstone and Hamilton Academical.
While it is quite a disappointment for the 22-year-old striker, it does allow Lafferty the chance to play and show Gerrard what he is capable of.
True, Rangers boss Gerrard is likely to use Jermain Defoe from the start, the 31-year-old forward could well get valuable time off the substitutes’ bench and could score a goal or two.

Morelos and Defoe are the two best strikers at Rangers, but Lafferty has now been given a great chance to put himself back in the frame at Ibrox.
According to WhoScored, the Northern Ireland international has made six starts and only 11 substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers so far this season, scoring three goals in the process.
