Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Sassuolo’s Alfred Duncan.

The 24-year-old Ghana international is a key player for Sassuolo, and would reportedly cost around £14 million.
Is Duncan a perfect long-term replacement for Dembele?
Tottenham have a strong midfield set-up, and it will be hard for Duncan to get regular games at the club. Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele are Mauricio Pochettino’s favourite midfield pair, and are undisputed first choice options.
Then there is England international Eric Dier, who is a top class holding midfielder in his own right. Plus, there are exciting players coming through the ranks in the form of Josh Onomah and Harry Winks.
So, where does Duncan fit in?
First of all, Duncan represents significant value for money in this inflated market, and Spurs could pull off a tremendous signing if they can agree to a deal in and around £14 million.
Duncan is quick, strong, and extremely hard working. He has the potential to become a class player, and could be a long term replacement for Dembele.

The former Sampdoria midfielder is left-footed like Dembele. He covers a lot of ground due to his pace, and has this excellent dribbling ability to get past players.
Like Dembele, he uses his dribbling skills to get past the immediate man, and then immediately looks for a pass. Being left-footed, he tends to shift towards the left flank, and either whips in crosses or picks the right man in the box with a sharp low pass, and is very good with his delivery.
He is a decent tackler, good at break up play, and the best thing about him is he keeps the game simple, and doesn’t mess things up in an attempt to do everything on his own.

Another feature of his game, like Dembele, is his excellent control of the ball in tight situations. He hardly gives the ball away, uses his strength to get past his marker, and creates space with his movement.
Duncan has a good shooting range, but he likes to create for his teammates more than getting himself on the scoresheet. He is a brilliant passer, and has the vision to play both accurate long balls or creating chances through the tiniest of gaps.
In more than one way, he reminds you of Dembele, although the Belgian is more graceful. But, Duncan is only 24, and he could fill the boots of Dembele in the long run.
