Leeds finally have a boost from one of their deadline day signings.
Leeds’ Alfonso Pedraza celebrates scoring their third goal
Despite high hopes, Leeds United’s transfer window was somewhat of a disappointment, with the club deciding only to add players in on loan.
Garry Monk added the two wingers to give competition to the squad and help them get over the line and reach the play-offs.
Until Friday night, neither Barrow or Pedraza had made any sort of impact.
Barrow remains a mystery, failing to get off the bench, but Pedraza finally did what was required and got on the scoresheet.
His goal put Leeds’ win at Birmingham beyond doubt, making it 3-1 to follow up a brace from Chris Wood.
Wood has performed miracles this season and Leeds need other players to share the goalscoring burden.
Pedraza’s goal finally kickstarted Monk’s January plans coming into action, and is hopefully a sign of what is to come.
The benefit of the new additions has already been seen in a different manner, with Stuart Dallas responding by raising his game in recent weeks.
Pedraza has put himself in contention to start once again, and the goal will have done his confidence the world of good.
Leeds needed at least one of their January loanees to start contributing after a month of finding their feet, and now one of them has done so, it must be used as a platform for a superb end to the season.
