Alfie McCalmont has taken to Twitter to comment on the news that Leeds confirmed on their official website earlier this week that the Whites youngster has signed a new contract at Elland Road.

McCalmont has been incredibly impressive for Carlos Corberan’s side this season considering that he was predominantly playing for the under-18s last term.

The club have announced that the 18-year-old has signed a deal that is now set to run until 2021, while Leeds can extend those terms by a further year.

It is a statement from the Championship leaders to get the teenager to extend his deal. He is still awaiting his debut for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, but he cannot be too far away from putting pressure on some of the established midfielders in the first-team, with Bielsa promoting a number of prospects this season.

He got the chance to impress the senior boss on Monday night as he was included in the side that beat Southampton in the Premier League Cup. McCalmont performed well in the middle of the park as Leeds picked up a dramatic victory.

And with that game now out of the way, the youngster has taken to social media to comment on signing his new deal at Elland Road and send a message to the fans.
