Swansea City defender Alfie Mawson was linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.

Swansea City defender Alfie Mawson was linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
The Sun reported back in June that Tottenham were going to make a move for Mawson in the summer.
It was reported by the British tabloid that Spurs were planning to make a £15 million offer for the 23-year-old central defender.

The report also claimed that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino had been in touch with Swansea over the former England Under-21 international centre-back.
It was reported by The Telegraph in July that the Swans were asking for as much as £30m as transfer fee for Mawson.

Mawson joined Swansea from Barnsley in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by The Star to be worth £5m.
The defender made 27 appearances in the Premier League for the Welsh club last season, scoring four goals in the process.
Despite speculation over a move to Tottenham, Mawson remains part of the Swansea team, with the summer transfer window having now closed. The defender has responded to speculation linking him with a switch to Spurs.
Mawson said on the Premier League Daily show on Sky Sports News on Monday morning (broadcast from 10am, September 4, 2017) when asked about speculation linking him with a move to Tottenham in the summer transfer window: “Again, I had this conversation with my friends, my family, my manager.
“I don’t listen to it unless there is something properly in paper. If the manager called me and said, ‘Listen, this is black and white, this is what’s happened, this is what’s not happened’, I respect that.
“Until there is a contract or until there is proof of it, then I don’t ever think that. I don’t think too much into it. I am a Swansea player and I am more than happy here.”
