The Gunners star says he has not become friends with anyone at White Hart Lane as it is “better that way” for the Gunners.

Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has told reporters, as quoted by the Metro, that he does not keep friends with any player at Tottenham Hotspur as it is “better that way” for the Gunners.

Sanchez and his teammates host their bitter rivals at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday in the latest installment of a rivalry which has taken on even more importance in the last 12 months or so.

Arsenal are three points and three places ahead of Spurs going into the weekend’s fixtures and are unbeaten in all competitions since the opening day of the season as they line up to face the only remaining undefeated Premier League side.

Despite the furious on-field battle between the sides, several players on each side are friendly off the pitch, whether through being international teammates or simply due to the close proximity of both clubs.

However, Sanchez clearly does not subscribe to that view, and had a blunt and bullish response when asked if he was particularly friendly with any Spurs player.

The Chilean star responded, as quoted by the Metro: “No. It’s better that way for us.”

Sanchez has faced Tottenham four times so far as an Arsenal player and got his first experience of scoring in the derby in the last meeting between the sides.

The 27-year-old was on a seven-game scoreless run going into the clash at White Hart Lane in early March but hit a late equaliser for the 10-man Gunners to earn a 2-2 draw.

In contrast, this time around he enters the clash in a rich vein of form, having found the net eight times in his first 14 appearances of the campaign.

He will be hoping to prove a difference-maker on Sunday against a side for whom he clearly holds no warmth.
