Quoted by the London Evening Standard, Thierry Henry has claimed Mesut Ozil’s fine form at the beginning of this season is down to Alexis Sanchez’s movement as the main striker.

The beginning of this season has seen Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger change his system, moving Sanchez from the left wing into the central striker role.

After struggling with the change early on the Chilean has flourished in the role, with six goals in all competitions so far.

The move also appears to have benefitted midfielder Mesut Ozil, who also has six goals to his name, an impressive tally considering he managed just eight in the Premier League and Champions League last year.

And Henry believes that it is Alexis Sanchez’s movement that is benefitting the German.

“He’s [Sanchez] finally playing as a centre-forward. He does it for Chile, so it’s not something that he doesn’t know how to do,” the London Evening Standard quotes him saying.

“When you have a guy who as a No.9, the way he puts pressure, the way he moves, his vision for the ball, that creates a lot of holes for Ozil.

“That’s why Ozil is scoring a lot of goals – off the movement of Alexis Sanchez.”

Arsenal will now be hoping that Ozil can maintain his goal-scoring form for the remainder of the season.

The Gunners have benefitted from it so far, with them currently level on points with Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

If they are to go one step further and end up as champions they will need everyone contributing, starting with this weekend’s clash with bottom of the table Sunderland.
