Jason Cundy has backed Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to sign Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City.

The former Chelsea player thinks that Kalvin Phillips, who is yet to start a Premier League game this season, needs to leave Manchester City now.

From the moment the 27-year-old moved to the Etihad from Leeds United last summer, it has been a struggle for the player.

Cundy thinks that Kalvin Phillips would get the required minutes at Liverpool and claimed that summer signing, Alexis Mac Allister, ‘hasn’t been great’, as he told talkSPORT.

That’s harsh on the former Brighton man because, whilst he made that error at the weekend, he has put in healthy performances during periods this season when players around him were getting sent off.

Either way, Cundy backed Kalvin Phillips to get into Liverpool’s side ahead of Alexis Mac Allister.

Kalvin Phillips to Liverpool?

“Does he get into Liverpool’s team? Mac Allister hasn’t been great, has he?!” said Cundy.

“He could get into Liverpool’s team. He has to leave Man City now.”

Liverpool should stay away from Phillips

It should be a big fat no from the Reds, if he can’t cut it at the Etihad, then there isn’t a reason why it would work at Anfield.

Plus, Liverpool have their four new midfield faces from the summer, plus a number of academy stars to give chances to.

If Phillips ended up on Merseyside, then he would only be warming another bench.
