One of the early names linked with a move to Leeds United this summer was Romanian winger Alexandru Maxim.

A report in his homeland via Digisport claimed a deal was close, but the 26-year-old went on to move to Mainz instead, signing for a fee of £2.7 million.

Maxim scored at the weekend in Mainz’s win over Hamburg, netting the opener after just two minutes.

The goal could turn out to be a brief moment to savour in an inconsistent season, or it could spark him into life.

Leeds United’s impressive attackers have recently gone off the boil, with the Whites scoring just once in their last three games after a scintillating start to the season.

They could certainly having Maxim available right now.
