Andy Townsend has praised Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette on Premier League Productions for his late goal against Crystal Palace.
What’s the story?
Arsenal played out a 2-2 draw with Palace at the Emirates Stadium last night.
The Gunners took an early lead through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but Palace then scored twice in the London derby.
Lacazette did not start the match, but the striker came on as a substitute.
The 30-year-old scored the equaliser in the fifth minute of injury time.
It was a very instinctive goal which showed just how alert the striker was even in the last moments.
Andy Townsend’s verdict
Former Chelsea midfielder Townsend was impressed by Lacazette and has praised him.
Townsend said on Premier League Productions: “Give a lot of credit to Lacazette because he’s come on and made a difference.
“Arsenal keep the ball alive and when the ball comes to Lacazette, he’s still got a bit to do to get it past Guaita and it’s a sweet strike. Incredible.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal legend Ian Wright has praised Aubameyang for his goal.
Wright said on Premier League Productions: “Aubameyang makes the finish look very easy because he has to react at the far post.
“It’s just reaction and he has to do it very quickly, but it’s just knowing where the goal is. It’s a fantastic finish.”
Big player for Arsenal
Lacazette is not a regular in the Arsenal starting lineup and does not start too often.
However, as we saw last night, Lacazette’s importance in the team cannot be undermined.

It is not easy for any substitute to come on, score and make a difference.
That is exactly what Lacazette did.
The striker is out of contract at Arsenal at the end of the season.
It looks unlikely that Lacazette will be offered a new deal.
However, it is very encouraging to see Lacazette so committed and passionate for Arsenal.
