Alexandra Eala has suggested one sport she thinks she would like to do if she was in the Winter Olympics.

Eala is one of the most popular players on the WTA Tour right now, which was showcased at the Australian Open this year by the number of Filipino supporters coming to watch her.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a breakout season in her career, with Eala reaching the Miami Open semifinals and achieving a career-high ranking of world number 40.

Eala achieved another milestone after beating world number eight Jasmine Paolini in Dubai, and after she was asked if there was any Winter Olympic sport she would like to participate in.

Alexandra Eala names the Winter Olympic sport she would like to do

Winter sports are a big topic of conversation right now, with the 2026 Olympic Games taking place in Milano-Cortina.

After beating Paolini, 6-1 7-6(5), Eala was asked in her post-match press conference about the sport she would most like to participate in if she was at the Winter Olympics.

While Eala admitted that she was not that knowledgeable on winter sports, she showcased an interest in speed skating, before admitting that she was not good at skiing.

“I’m not sure. I’m not very knowledgeable on winter sports,” responded Eala. “I like kind of skating and they go in the rink like this.

Eala added, “Yeah, speed skating. I like that. But I can tell you I’m really, really bad at skiing. I’m so bad.”

Has the Philippines ever won a medal at the Winter Olympics?

The Philippines have won 18 medals at the Summer Olympics, but they are still waiting for their first at the Winter Games.

While they have not yet won a medal at the Winter Olympics, the Philippines do still have two athletes at the games in Milano-Cortina.

According to her own words, Eala is not a good skier, but that is the sport that both of the Philippines athletes have taken part in at the 2026 Games.

Francis Ceccarelli and Tallulah Proulx are those athletes, with the latter the first woman to represent the Philippines at a Winter Olympic Games.

Ceccarelli finished 54th in the men’s giant slalom, but was unable to finish in the men’s slalom.

While Proulx finished 52nd in the women’s giant slalom and 61st in the women’s slalom.
