Arsenal have made a strong start to the season in all competitions.

Former Arsenal star Alexander Hleb has told Sky Sports that he is hoping to see the Gunners win a treble this season.

After the opening day defeat to Liverpool, Arsene Wenger’s side have bounced back at the beginning of this campaign.

After seven games they sit third in the table with 16 points to their name, just two points behind league leaders Manchester City.

They are also through in the EFL Cup and are top of their Champions League group after a win and a draw from their opening two games.

Optimism is high at the Emirates and Hleb says he is hoping to see them enjoy a very successful season.

“Wenger always sets the highest goals,” he told Sky Sports.

“He has managed to keep his key players and they are playing great football. They are tearing everyone apart.

“I hope the team will win three trophies this season – the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League. This Arsenal side certainly has the ability and I will really be supporting them.”

It remains to be seen if Arsenal can taste any kind of success this season, never mind a treble.

After their work in the summer transfer window they certainly have the squad to compete, with Wenger arguably boasting his best team since the 2003-04 Invincibles.

Quality does not guarantee success, though, as they found last season in their disappointing collapse in the second half of the campaign.

Mentality will be key to their hopes and it will be interesting to see if this Arsenal team has the right one when the going gets tough later in the campaign.
