Trent Alexander-Arnold has told The Times about one tactic that Jurgen Klopp and Pep Lijnders are ‘massive on’ at Liverpool.

The England international told northern correspondent Paul Joyce: ‘This season I have played a little deeper and not gone up and down so much to the byline. That may look a bit more reserved, but I can still get a lot of the ball to make things tick.

‘There are rotations with the midfield. It is something I am always thinking about with Pep and the manager. They are massive on it.’

It is interesting to hear that Klopp and his Dutch assistant are so keen for Alexander-Arnold to rotate with the midfielders, and perhaps that could help the full-back later in his career.

It has been suggested quite a lot that the 22-year-old should eventually move into midfield, given his incredible eye for a pass and technical ability.

As The Guardian recall, Jamie Carragher once said that Alexander-Arnold is Liverpool’s answer to Kevin De Bruyne, and that he has the capabilities to play centrally.

The Liverpool No.66 himself has also admitted that he modelled his game on Steven Gerrard, who started as a right-midfielder but eventually moved into the middle, again stated by The Guardian.

So, with Klopp and Lijnders overly keen for the youngster to rotate with midfielders mid-game, Alexander-Arnold is actually gaining valuable experience which will equip him in future should he eventually change position.

Regardless of what happens in future, the Englishman is certainly doing just fine at right-back, and long may his fine form in a Liverpool shirt continue.
