Alex Scott reveals what Hugo Lloris was saying about the transfer window

Tottenham Hotspur are yet to sign a player during the January transfer window with deadline day set to come to a close.

Sky Sports pundit Alex Scott has revealed that Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris told her on Thursday morning that the players ‘understand’ their current transfer situation.

The north London club, who failed to sign a single player during the summer transfer window, are set to carry on that trend ahead of the winter transfer window closing on Thursday evening at 11 pm.

In recent weeks, Mauricio Pochettino’s squad has been hit with a number of big injuries, most notably to attacking duo Harry Kane and Dele Alli added with Heung-min Son being away on international duty.

Their absences resulted in Spurs being knocked out of two cup competitions within the space of a few days – Chelsea beat them on penalties in the League Cup semi-final & Crystal Palace knocked them out of the FA Cup.

Nonetheless, former Arsenal Women’s player Scott revealed what Lloris told her this morning in regards to the transfer window and what the squad is thinking as a whole.

“What they are saying and what Lloris was saying is they are looking at the bigger picture,” Scott told Sky Sports News on 31/01/2019 at 6:05 pm.

“They know with the move to the new stadium. They understand why it is hard. And when they sat down at the start of the season, the bigger picture for them was making sure that they get into the top four.

“He [Lloris] was talking about the squad. Of course, Lloris didn’t play in the cup games and he said ‘it is a good time to use the squad and get everyone on board.”

Despite the disappointment of being knocked out of the domestic competitions, Tottenham are still sitting in the Premier League’s top four and still in the Champions League knockout stages.

On Wednesday night, with Lloris in between the sticks, Pochettno’s side beat Watford 2-1, with Son and Fernando Llorente scoring goals in the last 10 minutes of the match.

As for the Champions League, Spurs will take on German giants Borussia Dortmund next month, with the Bundesliga club having England star Jadon Sancho in their ranks.
