Alex Scott admits that he would be tempted to follow in Jude Bellingham’s footsteps while handing a potential blow to Premier League suitors Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur, speaking to Bristol Live.

Bellingham, like Jadon Sancho before him, is living proof of the benefits of leaving your ‘comfort zone’. In just two-and-a-half years at Borussia Dortmund, the former Birmingham City wonderkid has blossomed into one of Europe’s most complete midfielders, and a regular in the England XI, long before celebrating his 20th birthday.

Bellingham’s remarkable emergence was a key factor in Jamie Bynoe-Gittens’ decision to swap Manchester City for Signal Iduna Park too.

And Scott, Bynoe-Gittens’ England youth team-mate, could be tempted to make a similar decision with a big-money departure from Bristol City expected in the near future.

Will Alex Scott follow in Jude Bellingham’s footsteps?

“Jude has almost set the bar for any young lad in England to go abroad,” Scott says. “I think another lad who was in our Euros squad, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, is at Borussia Dortmund too. He moved over there as a young lad at 16.

“Seeing what they’re doing, I think it motivates a lot of young lads who maybe are on a similar path. I think it’s becoming a lot more normal for lads from England to go abroad and get their chance because, obviously, it’s hard to get your chance in the Premier League at a young age over here.”

A ‘unique’ talent valued at around £25 million; Scott is on the radar of Wolves, Tottenham, Leicester City, Leeds United and more (talkSPORT and CBS Sports). Nicknamed the ‘Guernsey Grealish’ due to his elegant stride and defence-splitting through balls, Scott crossed the channel to join Bristol City at the age of just 16 and is clearly not afraid of a change of scenery.

‘Bellingham is a massive inspiration’

“I think he’s (Bellingham) obviously a massive inspiration for any young lad,” the 19-year-old adds. “Especially me being a similar age.

“Just being in your comfort zone is the easy option. So, if there’s an option to stay in England, I think that’s the one that most lads take.

“I think for me, moving from Guernsey to here was a jump. Obviously it’s the same language and same sort of people, but I think that is something I’ve taken for granted. I think if the opportunity arose abroad, it’s not something I would be afraid to do.”
