James Tavernier of Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers missed another penalty today.

Alex Rae has urged Rangers boss Steven Gerrard to take James Tavernier off penalty duties.
The Gers fought back from a goal down to beat Motherwell 2-1 at Ibrox this afternoon.
It could and would have been slightly more comfortable for Rangers had the right-back not missed a first-half penalty after Devante Cole fired the visitors into the lead.
Liam Polworth had fouled Tavernier in the box, but the defender’s effort from 12 yards smacked the post, before Jermain Defoe equalised for Gerrard’s side shortly before the break.
It was the third penalty that the Rangers captain has spurned this season, having also fluffed his lines against Feyenoord and Progres, and Rae claims that Gerrard should give the spot-kick responsibility to a player who isn’t struggling in their all-round game right now, like Defoe or Alfredo Morelos.
He told Radio Clyde Superscoreboard: “You can only take it in this current form and he has really struggled. Three penalties, for me it may well be a case of moving it on to someone, particularly with the way Defoe hits the ball and Morelos’ goalscoring prowess, it may be a case of giving one of these two guys the penalties from now on in.”
Filip Helander went on to grab a second-half winner for Rangers, meaning that Tavernier was let off the hook in a big way.
But Rae is right. The English defender has been struggling in recent weeks and missing a penalty was always on the agenda, especially with his recent history from the spot.
