Glasgow Rangers coach Graeme Murty’s Ibrox contract runs out at the end of the season.

Graeme Murty has received a lot of plaudits for the job that he has done in the last few months. The 43-year-old picked up the pieces following Pedro Caixinha’s ill-fated tenure and briefly threatened to set up a title race in the Scottish Premiership.

However, any hopes Murty and Rangers had of catching Celtic have been dashed it seems, with the Hoops leaving Ibrox with the three points earlier in the month and Kilmarnock subsequently adding insult to injury with former Ger Kris Boyd scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win at the weekend.
The man who masterminded that win, Clarke has seen his stock rise significantly during his time at Rugby Park, with the victory proving to be his second win over Rangers while he is also one of just two managers in Scotland to beat a Brendan Rodgers-led Celtic side. And Rae insisted that Clarke must come into Rangers’ thinking in the summer when they consider Murty’s future.

“I’d be surprised if he wasn’t on their radar. In fact, if he isn’t, they’re not doing their jobs properly.”
Incredibly, Kilmarnock have lost just three times since Clarke was appointed back in October and none of those defeats have come against an Old Firm team.
That form should certainly put him in consideration, but Rangers should perhaps avoid getting carried away and avoid assuming that he will be able to make a similar impact at Ibrox as the expectation levels are different, and Clarke’s managerial record before arriving at Rugby Park is mixed.
And there is also no guarantee that Clarke would want to make the jump when life is going well with Killie if he was offered the chance to consider a move to Ibrox.
