Borna Barisic joined Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers in the summer of 2018.
Borna Barisic of Rangers
Alex Rae has suggested on BT Sport that Borna Barisic is not good enough for Rangers.
The former Rangers midfielder, who played for the Gers from 2004 until 2006, believes that the Scottish Premiership club are too big for the 26-year-old Croatia international left-back.
Rae has also suggested that Rangers should sell the defender in the summer transfer window.
Rae told BT Sport: “Barisic has really struggled. He has struggled to cope with the weight of the badge. I think it is too big for him, and it may be a case of having to ship him out.”
Stats
Barisic joined Rangers from NK Osijek in the summer of 2018 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £2.2 million.
The left-back did well for the Gers in the initial stages of his career at Rangers, but the Croatian has failed to play consistently well.
According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, the former Dinamo Zagreb defender played only 16 times in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers last season.
So far this season, the left-back has made only one appearance in the Scottish Premiership for the Gers, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
Confidence boost
Barisic scored a brilliant goal for Rangers in their 1-0 win against St. Mirren away from home in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon, and that will have boosted his confidence.
