Former Ibrox midfielder Alex Rae has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the defeat for Steven Gerrard’s Rangers on Thursday evening.

Rangers suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of Rapid Vienna away from home in Austria in their final Europa League Group G game.

Dejan Ljubicic’s goal in the 84th minute condemned Rangers to the defeat, which means that they have failed to progress to the knockout rounds of the Europa League this season.

Former Rangers midfielder Rae was following the match, and he has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the defeat for Gerrard’s team.

Over the course of the 90 minutes on Thursday evening, visitors Rangers had 51% of the possession, took seven shots of which one was on target, and earned three corners, according to BBC Sport.

Rangers will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Hamilton Academical at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers are second in the league table at the moment with 31 points from 16 matches, just two points behind leaders and bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic, who have played 15 games.
