Liverpool loanee Sheyi Ojo scored for Rangers, netting a sumptuous goal in the 23rd minute.
Former Rangers midfielder Alex Rae praised the club on Twitter, hailing the importance of the win.
He also questioned if Rangers could have made the task easier on themselves by being more clinical and adding a second goal.
Rangers had to withstand a lot of Dutch pressure, with Steven Gerrard’s side managing only 36 per cent of possession.
It is fair to suggest Rangers were wasteful, they had 20 shots at goal and only managed four on target. On a different day this could have come back to haunt them.
Rangers’ next Europa League game is away at Young Boys on October 3.
