Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have interviewed Alex Rae about becoming their new first-team coach.
According to a report in the Daily Record, Alex Rae could become Glasgow Rangers’ new number three.
Rae has been interview by Pedro Caixinha, with the Portuguese boss keen to add to his backroom staff at Ibrox.
And Rae’s comments from earlier this season, appear to suggest that he knows exactly where the Glasgow side are going wrong.
Rae suggested to BBC Sport that he felt Rangers lacked physicality, and couldn’t cope against high pressing opponents.
“When you press this Rangers side high up, can they win the individual battles,” Rae questioned.
“Up until 45 minutes, they are not doing that. If you look at their bench, there is nobody who can add that physical element they need.”
Rae’s comments suggest that he would like to see stronger and more powerful players arrive at Ibrox over the summer transfer window.
Whether the first-team coach would have much of a say over incoming additions remains to be seen, but Rae clearly feels that Rangers need to be stronger next term.
Rangers are looking to close the gap on Celtic next season, after struggling to compete with their Glasgow rivals this time around.
Rangers are currently 33 points behind the Bhoys in the Scottish Premiership table, and they sit in third place.
