Glasgow Rangers have made four signings already this January but Jason Cummings is the most eye catching.

He has joined the Scottish side on loan from Nottingham Forest and hopes to become a fan favourite at Ibrox.

Former Gers star Alex Rae has praised the deal, believing that Cummings can be a very good addition for Rangers.

He told BBC Sport: “They need a striker of substance in front of goals. I was looking at his record – 134 starts and 73 goals. It is very good viewing.

“I feel as if he’ll get more chances at Rangers as well because they will have a lot more of the ball.

“You are getting a player who, as recently as the summer, has moved for a considerable fee and it hasn’t quite worked out for him. From Rangers point of view, it is a very good piece of business.”

Cummings starred for Hibernian during his previous spell in Scotland although is untested in the Premiership.

Along with Jamie Murphy, Sean Goss and Russell Martin, he is one of a quartet of players who Rangers have signed on loan.

Alfredo Morelos is Rangers’ top scorer, but he had a barren spell last Autumn where he went almost 10 league games without a goal, and Cummings’ arrival eases the pressure on the Colombian.
