Cathro has worked with Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo before.
Former Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Alex Rae claims sacked Hearts manager Ian Cathro is being lined up for a job at Molineux.
Cathro was sacked on Tuesday morning after less than nine months in charge at Tynecastle, having seen the Jambos knocked out of the Scottish League Cup at the weekend.

The 31-year-old was in his first senior managerial role at Hearts, having began life as a youth coach at Dundee United and worked his way up to positions at clubs such as Newcastle United and Valencia.
Given that Cathro was taken to the Mestalla by current Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo, who had taken the Scot under his wing at Rio Ave, a reunion at Molineux would come as little surprise to no-one.
And according to Rae, who spent three seasons at Wolves in the early 2000s, Cathro has already been down to the Black Country this week.
He tweeted:
A fluent Portuguese speaker, Cathro’s presence could come in handy at Wolves after the arrivals of Ruben Neves, Diego Jota, Roderick Miranda, Leo Bonatini and Nuno this summer.
The Dundee native worked with another new Molineux recruit, Barry Douglas, at Tannadice Park.
