The Tottenham Hotspur winger felt the need to applaud the Norwich City man during Newcastle’s 6-2 win over his side.

Tottenham winger Alex Pritchard was impressed with Nathan Redmond’s performance for Norwich against Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.

Indeed, the 21-year-old netted for the visitors at St James’ Park and generally caused havoc for Steve McClaren’s back four.

He managed to stand out… despite a 6-2 win for the Magpies. And Spurs man Pritchard, who has worked with Redmond for England’s Under-21s, was delighted for Redmond.

Redmond has been an attacking threat ever since Norwich were last in the Premier League.

As Opta stats show, the forward was a menace for Norwich against Newcastle and was simply unlucky his back four couldn’t match his high standards!

Of course, the fact the Canaries boast a player as gung-ho as the youngster perhaps works in tandem with a poor defence – Alex Neil’s men were very open indeed against Newcastle.

But the 21-year-old certainly impressed going forward. As well as his goal for Norwich, he created four chances – as many as Moussa Sissoko, a real threat in attack, and completed more final-third passes than anyone else on the pitch.

No wonder Tottenham man and England Under-21 team-mate Pritchard felt the need to applaud.
