Khamzat Chimaev is now focused on taking on another UFC titleholder.
He has not been in action since capturing the 185-pound belt from Dricus du Plessis at UFC 319 last August.
Sean Strickland and Anthony Hernandez are scheduled to meet in a title eliminator at UFC Houston on February 21.
Nassourdine Imavov is also waiting for his opportunity, but ‘Borz’ seems more interested in facing someone in the heavier weight class.
Khamzat Chimaev sets sights on Alex Pereira fight

Chimaev has taken aim at Alex Pereira once again, putting out a call early Monday morning.
Chimaev wants to take on ‘Poatan’ on June 14, when the UFC heads to the White House event.
The Chechen fighter went as far as to share his prediction for how he sees the fight unfolding between the two champions.
Posting on X, Chimaev said: “Let’s go White House. Don’t worry, I will finish you fast.”
He followed up with another message directed at fans of his potential opponent: “All Brazilian fans tell this boy if you’re not scared tell him to fight.”
Alex Pereira vs Jon Jones is unlikely to happen
Jon Jones and Pereira have been pushing for a fight against each other for the past year.
However, just last week, ‘Bones’ said that the matchup will not take place because Dana White is not in favour of it.
The 38-year-old American said: “Pereira wants to fight me, but I don’t think Dana White’s gonna allow that to happen.
“It’ll be interesting to see what Dana wants.”
If not Jones, then perhaps Chimaev could be next in line for ‘Poatan’.
It is a bout fans would pay to see, but as always with these things, it comes down to whether White gives his approval.
