Alex Pereira had a few words for a fellow UFC fighter who made comments about a possible future bout between the two.

These days, Pereira has shown some early signs of moving to heavyweight, ahead of his interim title fight at the White House. He’s set to face Ciryl Gane after negotiations with Jon Jones didn’t lead to an agreement for his return.

The matchup has already drawn plenty of opinions, and one recent comment about how it might play out got a strong reaction from ‘Poatan’ on social media.

Melquizael Costa, a rising featherweight in the UFC, recently commented under an Instagram post that he believes Jon Jones would beat Alex Pereira if they ever fought.

While his comments weren’t aimed directly at Pereira, they did bring up some past interactions between the two Brazilians, which Pereira decided to address publicly.

“Bro, you root for whoever you want and it’s alright! F—– up is saying something you don’t even know and as if I did something to you,” he wrote in response.

Pereira brought up two previous encounters between them. In the first, he was upset because Costa filmed him without permission while he was eating and drinking at a hotel before an LFA event.

The second involved a dinner in Mexico where Pereira recalled supporting Costa after a loss. The details shared by ‘Poatan’ hinted that there might be more tension than fans realised.

“I was giving you strength because you were crying because you lost the fight and now when you win two fights, you’re the almighty,” he said. “Bro, I can lose eight matches in a row!”
