Norwich City manager Alex Neil has said that he wishes to keep defender Martin Olsson at Carrow Road, as reported by the Eastern Daily Press.
Neil continues to work wonders with his Canaries side as the club find themselves fully in the running for an automatic promotion place a quarter of the way through the season.
They have responded brilliantly to relegation from the Premier League and the young manager looks set to do everything in his power to ensure they bounce back at the first attempt.
Over the course of the international break, Swedish international Olsson made it clear that his future was uncertain, even going so far as to suggesting that he could leave on a free transfer.
However, Neil has now commented on the star’s future by saying, via the Eastern Daily Press: “Martin Olsson doesn’t need to prove anything to me.
“I have been trying to sign him and get him to sign a new contract. Then we will all be happy.
We want to keep Martin. In my opinion, I don’t think you will find a better left-back in the Championship than him.”
Olsson was one of many Norwich players who was away on international duty over the last few weeks, leaving Neil biting his fingernails waiting to hear who was going to come back fit and ready to play against Rotherham.
The 28-year-old defender has been an ever-present in the Norwich first team since arriving from Blackburn Rovers back in 2013, but whether or not he is entirely committed to helping the club in their fight for promotion remains to be seen.
