Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to react after Alex Mowatt revealed that he’d won Barnsley’s Player of the Month award for March with a seven-word tweet.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a brilliant month at Oakwell, scoring one goal and recording three assists in six Championship games.

Impressively, the Barnsley captain now has seven goals and seven assists in 39 Championship appearances this season.

The Leeds academy graduate is leading an unlikely promotion charge for the Tykes this term.

After an incredible run of ten wins and four draws from their last 15 Championship outings, Mowatt’s side now sit fifth with 68 points to their name.

If Barnsley end up in the Premier League, it would be one of the biggest shocks of the season.

It would also see Mowatt return to Yorkshire to face his former side, in what would be a special occasion in front of a (hopefully) packed Elland Road.

The Doncaster-born maestro is still fondly thought of at Leeds, following some memorable displays for the club during his time there.

In 125 appearances for Leeds, Mowatt scored 13 goals and registered 13 assists.

It’s great to see him succeeding.

Hopefully, he can join Marcelo Bielsa’s side in England’s top-flight with Barnsley.

Let’s see what the Leeds fans on Twitter have been saying about his award…
