Alex Mowatt has praised Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips on Instagram for his performance for England on Thursday evening.
Phillips was in action for England in their friendly international match against Wales at Wembley Stadium in London.
It was the 24-year-old’s only second appearance for the Three Lions in his career, and he did well, and his performance impressed his former Leeds teammate Mowatt, who is now on the books of fellow Yorkshire club Barnsley.
According to WhoScored, against Wales, Phillips had a pass accuracy of 93.8%, won one header, took 73 touches, made two interceptions, and put in two crosses.
Mowatt responded: “Class”.
Developing nicely
Phillips has developed a lot under Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa over the past two seasons, and the midfielder is doing well in the Premier League and for England at the moment.
There is more to come from the 24-year-old, who remains young enough to add facets to his game and to take his game to the next level.
For Leeds to have a successful season, Phillips will have to be on top form, and if the midfielder does well at club level, then he will be part of the England squad for the European Championship next summer.
