Alex McLeish has told SkySports that he believes James McCarthy would be a huge success if he signs for Celtic.
Celtic are currently listed as the bookies favourites to sign McCarthy from Everton, at 4/1 with SkyBet, although it remains to be seen if he will make a deadline day move.

McLeish, a former Rangers title winning manager, told SkySports via Periscope that he believes McCarthy is a signing Celtic should go all out for.
He said: “I think it would be an amazing singing. I like James. If he went to Celtic it could be a coup de grace for Brendan Rodgers.”
McCarthy is still rated more likely to stay at Everton, at 2/5 with SkyBet, and time is working against Celtic if they are to pull off a move in time for the midnight transfer deadline.
The 25-year-old started Everton’s first game of the season against Tottenham, playing all 90 minutes, but has made just one substitute appearance since.
Wages are likely to be a sticking point for Celtic, and a subsidised loan deal could be a solution, but the chance to play Champions League football will surely be tempting for McCarthy.
