The former Rangers manager predicts current Ibrox incumbent Mark Warburton to move in the transfer market.

Rangers took on Hamilton Academical in their opening game of the Scottish Premiership campaign at the weekend and it was not a game which ended in the result they would have liked.
Mark Warburton’s side could only manage a 1-1 draw in the game, as they struggled to find the killer instinct to go with much of their dominant play.

Speaking about the display of Rangers to Sky Sports News HQ this morning (09/08/16) Alex McLeish had this to say:
“They played some nice football. They maybe lacked a bit of the swashbuckling style, really getting in the opponents faces.
“They deserved a draw but they did look a little bit leggy in one or two positions.”
It was also a game which saw star striker Martyn Waghorn pull up with a hamstring injury. The goalscorer for Rangers in the game, who spent a long period of last season on the sidelines with a knee injury, looks like taking some time out from first-team action.

McLeish, who spent five years as Rangers manager and won seven major honours during his time at Ibrox, believes Waghorn’s injury will be a precursor to more transfer arrivals in Glasgow:
“They’ll miss him (Waghorn) because he scores all the goals last season.
“Then when he came back again he finished the season reasonably strong. They will miss a player of that calibre.
“So that’s why, I think Mark Warburton, will want to try and reinforce his troops as well.”

Rangers fans are undoubtedly hoping to see another striker arrive. Kenny Miller is no spring chicken anymore and Waghorn’s fitness is becoming a concern.
A central striker is surely needed and it appears McLeish expects Warburton to make such a move at Rangers before the transfer window slams shut.
