Mark Warburton’s Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers went down 2-1 at Pittodrie.

Alex McLeish has told The Record that he noticed something odd about Rangers and Aberdeen fans during Sunday’s clash at Pittodrie.
Rangers lost 2-1 to Derek McInnes’s side when James Maddison struck an excellent 90th-minute free kick to infuriate Gers boss Mark Warburton, who felt that the so-called foul committed by James Tavernier prior to the goal was harsh – and he was not alone.

It was the last controversial incident in quite a feisty contest which yielded nine yellow cards, though referee John Beaton was a tad too quick to book a number of players.
It was hostile on the pitch, but even more so on the terraces as Rangers and Dons supporters renewed hostilities from close quarters, with dozens of police officers, and a fence, separating both sets of fans.

And McLeish has observed that the two groups of supporters seemed more concerned with antagonising one another rather than the match itself.
“I know there’s bad blood between the club – and there were one or two unsavoury issues on Sunday – but in the main, most people behaved,” he said to The Record.
“There is huge rivalry there. I was watching the fans from the gantry and half of them didn’t even bother watching the game!”
As a result of the defeat, Rangers are seventh in the Scottish Premiership, seven points behind leaders Celtic, who have played one match less.
