Ibrox outfit Glasgow Rangers recently appointed Pedro Caixinha as the new manager following Mark Warburton’s departure last month.

Alex McLeish has revealed to The Scottish Sun that he spoke with Rangers regarding the managerial job.
Rangers recently appointed Pedro Caixinha as the manager following the departure of Mark Warburton last month.
McLeish was in charge of the Scottish giants from 2001 until 2006. The former Scotland defender guided the Gers to the league title and the Scottish Cup twice each and the Scottish League Cup on three occasions.
The former Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest manager has revealed that he held discussion with Rangers chiefs Stewart Robertson, Graeme Park and Andrew Dickson about succeeding Warburton at Ibrox.
“We had a nice chat,” McLeish told The Scottish Sun. “It wasn’t a done deal if they’d said ‘You’re the man we’re going for’. There would have been a further chat to understand some parameters.”
Why didn’t Rangers appoint McLeish?
The fact that McLeish had a meeting with the Rangers chiefs suggest that both partied were interested.
So why didn’t Rangers appoint McLeish? After all, the Scotsman is very experienced and was successful in his first spell as the Rangers boss.
We might never know the answer, but hopefully for the Ibrox faithful, Caixinha will prove to be an able manager and lead Rangers to success in the coming years.
